The school’s name is Mowersville Christian Academy and is located at the same address as the church. Mowersville Christian Academy is an integral ministry of the church and, as such, has no school board apart from the church board.

Our church has adopted the Accelerated Christian Education Program, with the headquarters in Nashville, TN. As such, we agree to classroom procedures and curriculum designated in our purchase agreement.

Students and parents are expected to belong to and attend regularly a Bible-believing church.

Statement of Purpose

Our church has established this school to teach children a highly ethical academic program based on the value system taught by Jesus Christ. Our primary goal, then, is to train and enhance young people who have a desire to live for Christ. Spiritual standards will prevail over all others. Children will be taught morality, obedience to the law, respect, decency and courtesy for others, love for country, and above all, love and obedience to the Lord.

Full implementation of the school program will better equip those graduating from our school spiritually, socially, and academically because they will have a Christ-centered education. Our students will be able to make a valuable contribution to society because they will be taught to see things through the mind of Christ.

Admission

Admission to MCA is a privilege, not a right.  We are a closed campus and admission is permitted only by the administration.  Our enrollment is usually full and we have a waiting list because we are limited in seats.

First child cost runs about $3000/year with discounts for families.

We use public busing from Chambersburg, Shippensburg and Big Spring districts.  Our day operates between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm.

If interested, call 717-423-6020 for an appointment to come see the school and discuss the options.

MCA is a full time school for grades K-12. We use the ACE curriculum, which means we have a non-traditional setting where students are taught individually instead of a classroom style setting. The program is individualized so we can meet the needs of students from a wider range of academic ability. Our teachers act as tutors because they work with students individually. ACE is Biblically based and students will memorize a lot of scripture each year.

All students begin on a college preparatory tract toward graduation. If a student can’t perform at that level, then we have the ability to redirect them to a different level. Each student has their own office space which is somewhat enclosed for quietness and reduced distraction. The teacher comes to the student’s desk to answer questions and help with academic problems. We teach critical thinking skills, reading comprehension, and goal setting. Academics are taught from a Biblical perspective instead of a humanistic viewpoint.

We are a small school in comparison to most schools (55-65 students), but we know each one personally and work with each one individually. We are different, but effective for the students who are willing to learn. If you would like more information, please call the school and we will direct you to someone that can further explain MCA to you.
